Our academic library’s purpose is to support the teaching and research of the institution and to provide students with most updated knowledge with current on-goings in the society and scientific world. The library holds a huge collection of books, periodicals, subscribed journals and magazines, online resources, etc.

Library Vision:

By providing easy access to a wide variety of information resources, such as print materials, digital and online databases, and non-print media, that are all suited to the requirements of curricular, informational, and cutting-edge research initiatives, the Library hopes to empower the academic community and its stakeholders.

“The mission of R. C. Patel Institute of Pharmacy Library is to facilitate free and equitable access to information and resources for all users, to help them reach their maximum academic potential, promote lifelong learning, and foster a love of reading and research.”

Library Working Hours

  1. Library Working Hours: Monday to Saturday – 10.00 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.
  2. Circulation (issue – Return): Monday to Saturday – 10.15 a.m. to 05.30 p.m.
  3. Extra hours: During examination library will remain open for extra hours
  4. Close: Library will remain closed on all Sundays and Gazetted Holidays

Library Membership

  1. Every member of the institute’s faculty, staff, and students is eligible to join the library.
  2. Only once a properly completed and signed membership form has been submitted is membership permitted. Members are expected to understand and accept the library’s policies.
  3. In the download section, locate a membership format that may be downloaded.

Library Rules

General rule

  1. The library requires strict observance of silence, decorum, and discipline. Cell phone use is prohibited.
  2. It’s totally forbidden to eat, smoke, sleep, or converse in the library.
  3. Documents removed from the shelves must remain on the table. It is not advisable to swap out books on shelves because they could become lost. A misplaced book is similar to a lost one.
  4. With the librarian’s approval, a non-member may utilize the library’s resources on the grounds.
  5. It is not permitted for patrons to highlight, underline, dog-ear, scribble, destroy, or otherwise alter library materials.
  6. Newspapers, journals, and magazines are only allowed to be read on designated tables within the library; they are not permitted to be read anywhere else.
  7. No library materials may be removed without authorization. Any unauthorized removal of library property will be handled as theft and dealt with appropriately.
  8. If someone breaks the library’s rules and regulations, they risk losing their membership privileges and being prohibited from using the resources.
  9. No picture of the library may be taken without the librarian’s prior consent.
  10. We are open to suggestions regarding any area of library services.

 

Library circulation rules

The quantity of books that each member is permitted to own:

  • Diploma Students: 1 books.
  • Graduate Students: 1 Works
  • Books for Postgraduate Students: 2
  • Books for students studying for competitive exams:1
  • Teacher: 7
  • Books for non-teaching personnel: 2
  1. The books will be issued in accordance with the signed book card in the issue record.
  2. The following types of materials will not be issued: rare books, theses, dissertations, loose issues of periodicals, etc.
  3. The book lending period for students and non-teaching staff will be seven days, including the day of issue. Staff books for teaching are given out for a semester.
  4. Before borrowing, students must be satisfied with the books’ physical state; if not, they will be liable for any damage that occurs later or when the books are returned.
  5. The individual who issued the book will be held accountable for its upkeep. For any loss or damage, he or she will be responsible for paying the damages.
  6. After being out of station for more than fifteen days, the user or users must return all given books.
  7. Books in poor condition for safe handling will not be distributed. The librarian will determine the condition of the books.
  8. Any book may be recalled at any moment by the librarian if needed.

Book renewal rules:

  1. For a single user, a book title should only be renewed once.
  2. After a book has been renewed once, a member must bring it to the library and have it reissued (if available) after storing it in the stack room for a week.
  3. Shorter than the allotted time may be allowed for the loan of a book that is momentarily on special demand.
  4. As time permits, the librarian may at any moment end the loan or shorten its duration.
  5. Book Issue, Return Policy, Renewal Policy, and Timing

 Penalties:

  1. Students who do not return their books within the allotted period will first receive a warning before being put to the list of defaulters.
  2. After their first infraction, defaulting students are prohibited from using the library for three days.
  3. A week after the second breach  On the third breach, two weeks
  4. If a member of the library repeatedly fails to return books, their membership will be suspended.
  5. Students will be billed the full cost of the book if any pages in library books are torn, damaged, or otherwise defaced. Make sure you don’t receive any books like that, or inform the library workers about it.
  6. If a book / books borrowed from the Library is / are lost, the matter must be reported to the Librarian immediately. 7. The member has to replace the same or later edition of the same book lost/ damaged within a week’s time.
  7. If the replacement is not possible, the following will be the procedure to recover the cost of the lost/damaged.
  8. For a foreign book: The cost of the book converted as per the current conversion rate of the foreign currency.
  9. For an Indian book printed price of the book as per latest edition.
  10. In case of loss/damage of either of Library Card, a fine of Rs.50/-will be charged and duplicate card will be issued on recommendation of Principal of College.

Use of computers/laptops:

  1. Computer in the library premises should be used for academic purposes only.
  2. Online chatting/dating, browsing of social networking sites are strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
  3. Playing games on computers is strictly prohibited in the entire Library premises.
  4. Readers must carry their ID card while using the Digital Library. They must show their ID card on demand.
  5. Readers are not allowed to share their Internet access ID and Password with other students.
  6. Changing the settings and display of the computers kept in the Library is not permitted.
  7. Use of laptops in the cubical systems where computers are already installed is not permitted.
  8. Readers should not remove/unplug computer cables/connections, network cables and other peripherals/accessories in the library.
  9. Personal keyboard, mouse, etc. are not allowed inside the Library.

Reading hall general instructions:

  1. The right to use General Reading Hall is exclusively reserved for bonafide members of Library,
  2. Readers should not leave their belongings/books/copies on the table and cannot claim, capture, and reserve seats for future use.
  3. The seats are to be used/occupied on the first come first served basis.
  4. Capturing/reserving seats for friend’s/future use is strictly prohibited. Other students may remove the books if these are left unattended on the tables.
  5. Readers should not scribble on table tops or damage them.
  6. Readers should not clutter the table with heaps of books and other reading material.

Use of property counter:

  1. While entering the library please keep your Issued books, Photocopy material, Files, Registers, Bags, Umbrella, Water bottles etc. at the Property Counter since these items are not allowed inside the Library.
  2. Please do not leave your valuables e.g. Purse, Mobile Phones, Laptops etc. at the Property Counter or at any other place in the Library.
  3. The College/Library authorities will not be responsible for the loss, if any.
