This department primarily focuses on medicines derived from natural sources, their uses, and applications across various traditional and modern systems of medicine. The laboratory is well equipped with essential instruments such as Camera Lucida, Muffle Furnace, Hot Air Oven, pH Meter, Projection Microscope, and Binocular Microscope to support practical training and research activities.

The Department of Pharmacognosy provides a dynamic learning environment that meets current industrial and academic requirements. With the increasing demand for standardization and analysis of herbal drugs in pharmaceutical, Ayurvedic, nutraceutical, and cosmeceutical industries, the department plays a key role in developing skilled professionals. It has consistently contributed trained graduates to both industry and academia.

The program is structured to train students in herbal drug technology, including herbal drug standardization, phytochemical screening, formulation and development of herbal products, validation of traditional medicines, and production of plant secondary metabolites using plant tissue culture techniques.
