Pharmacology
This department focuses on the experimental study of drug effects on different tissues and organ systems using laboratory animals such as frogs and guinea pigs. Students gain hands-on experience with modern instruments including Sherrington’s Kymograph, Convulsiometer, Plethysmograph, Actophotometer, Rota-rod, Analgesiometer, and Sphygmomanometer.
Pharmacology is the science of drug action that examines how drugs interact with biological systems to produce therapeutic or adverse effects. The discipline covers drug mechanisms, safety, and therapeutic applications, with core areas including pharmacodynamics (drug effects on the body) and pharmacokinetics (the body’s effect on drugs).
