National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Shirpur Education Society’s R. C. Patel Institute of Pharmacy, Shirpur was established in the academic year 2024–25 with around 60 students  under the affiliation of Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.

The NSS) was officially initiated on 24 September 1969. This date is celebrated every year as NSS Day across India.The NSS was started by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education, Government of India to involve students in community service and nation-building activities.The year 1969 marked the birth centenary (100th birth anniversary) of Mahatma Gandhi.The scheme was designed to involve students in community service and nation-building activities, reflecting Gandhi’s ideas of social service and responsibility toward society.

The motto of the NSS is “Not Me But You.” It reflects the spirit of selfless service and democratic values. The motto encourages students to think about the needs of others and understand different viewpoints.

Vision:

The vision of NSS is to develop socially responsible youth who are willing to serve society. It aims to inspire young people to work for the betterment and upliftment of underprivileged and marginalized communities in the nation.

Mission:

The mission of NSS is to motivate and involve students in community service. Guided by the motto “Not Me But You,” the scheme promotes learning through social service and encourages students to contribute to society while gaining valuable life experiences through education and community engagement.

  • To identify the needs and problems of the community and help in solving them.
  • To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among students.
  • To use their knowledge to find practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  • To become aware of the issues faced by people in their neighborhood.
  • To participate actively in solving community problems.
  • To develop teamwork and learn to live and work together in a group.
  • To improve skills in community participation and mobilization.
  • To develop leadership qualities and democratic values.
  • To build the ability to respond to natural disasters and emergencies.
